Dive into an enchanting world filled with light, colour and sound on a truly Titanic scale.
This September you are invited to journey 40 feet below sea level at sunset to the iconic dock where Titanic was built, to see and feel the world around you from a new perspective in a breathtaking spectacle of light, colour and sound.
You will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring the history of the place where Belfast began, and choosing what part you will play in its future.
From the creative minds of designer Henry Sykes (Our Place In Space, Banana Block) and Three’s Theatre Company, this mesmerising light show, produced by innovative lighting designers Conal Clapper and Alan Mooney, is accompanied by a captivating soundscape created by award winning composer Katie Richardson – promising an unforgettable, immersive theatre experience.
Shadowdock is designed to capture the essence of what Belfast 2024 is all about, reconnecting people with their city, encouraging positive engagement with the world around us and inspiring others to think creatively.
Arriving along the Maritime Mile to the iconic Titanic Slipway, you reach your destination at Thompson Dry Dock, beside world renowned Titanic Distillers whiskey distillery.
Above Deck - If these walls could talk…At the top of the dock, take a bird’s eye view and be mesmerised by the story of where Belfast began. Enjoy watching the explorers below navigate their way through the light show within the dock, alongside the enchanting soundtrack and story bellowing throughout the magnificent structure on speakers. Suitable for all ages and accessibilities.
Below Deck - Enjoy the spectacle from a different perspective. Venture 40 feet below sea level down 66 steps where you'll be plunged into a world of light and sound using headphones to create a fully immersive audio-visual experience. A narrator will guide you to explore the stories of these walls where within Belfast began and you can interact with the lights from amidst the depths of the dock. Suitable for ages 16 and over.
Note: This area is only accessible via 66 steep steps, making it unsuitable for those with mobility issues or health concerns that would make entering or exiting the dock difficult.
The performance runs for approximately 30 minutes and will take place from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th September. Tickets are free for under 5s, £5 for Above Deck and £10 for Below Deck.
